Eschewing the traditional mantra of ‘more is more’ so inherent in her trade, Ryan feels most at home among clean architectural lines varying from fluid to almost aggressively sharp. Designing with restraint in mind, Holly Ryan hacks away at the inessentials; a subtractive creative process governed by an innate sense of scale and balance. Citing brutalist modern architecture, minimalist sculpture and conceptual art as some of the inspiration behind her work. Ryan’s strict linear approach isn’t only aimed at jewellery puritans, the childlike squiggles and jaunty angles become cheekily youthful when paired together. Ryan’s Spring/Summer’15 collection is a refined assemblage of her signature designs, free from the constraints of seasonal themes or concepts. A clean and contemporary offering of striking statements and memorable understatements, in classic yellow gold.
